About Me

Nelson Mandela’s words have provided daily inspiration for me in my work as a math tutor in Connecticut.  For the past 11 years I have provided small group math support to children in the third, fourth, and fifth grades.  During this time I have worked with well over 600 students.  I love to see the children gain confidence as they move through the three grade levels and develop a mastery of elementary school mathematical concepts and skills.

I did not start out in education and ironically, that has helped me to become a much more effective educator.  After graduating magna cum laude from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, I embarked on a 15-year career in business and finance. Leading a team that put together multi-million dollar lease transactions gave me ample opportunity to use math in the “real world.”   This experience forms the backdrop against which I grapple with, make sense of, and teach the Common Core standards to my students.

Now that my own children are heading off to college, I have created this web site dedicated to providing ready-made, turnkey math lesson plans and worksheets for students in grades three through five.   Each lesson plan includes an instructor’s guide, which provides a clear explanation for each standard covered.  A corresponding student worksheets section creates ample opportunity for students to practice and master all required skills.  My materials have been designed to help instruct children who may be struggling with a particular grade level math concept, or as enrichment activities for the earlier grades.

Working together, I hope that these resources will allow us to continue to change the world, one student at a time.
